Basketball Game Preview: Sheridan Blackhawks vs. Speedway Sparkplugs

The Sheridan Blackhawks will square off against the Speedway Sparkplugs at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Sheridan's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last 12 games.

On Tuesday, Sheridan strolled past Lapel with points to spare, taking the game 57-41.

Kenzie Garner was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 27 points and nine rebounds. The matchup was her sixth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Cecilia Timme, who went 7 of 11 on her way to 15 points.

Sheridan smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Speedway was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 41-37 to Beech Grove.

Sheridan's win was their ninth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-1. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.7 points per game. As for Speedway, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-10.

Sheridan strolled past Speedway in their previous matchup back in January of 2024 by a score of 61-42. Will Sheridan repeat their success, or does Speedway have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
