Dunedin is a perfect 10-0 against Largo since March of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. Dunedin will head out on the road to challenge Largo at 7:00 p.m. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Dunedin sitting on three straight wins and Largo on four.
While Dunedin's victory against Hudson wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Dunedin had just enough and edged out Hudson 8-6. While the Falcons didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-15), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Abby McLemore made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over 5.2 innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Lyla Griffey was incredible, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with three stolen bases and two RBI. Riley Millican was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3.
Dunedin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hudson only posted an OBP of .364.
Meanwhile, Largo got themselves on the board against Tarpon Springs two weeks ago, but Tarpon Springs never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Spongers with a sharp 16-0 win. The Packers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matches by six runs or more this season.
The team relied heavily on Miranda Rollins, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Elle Fleck, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Largo's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-3. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to strikeouts: they averaged an imposing seven strikeouts in those games compared to only 4.13 in the others. As for Dunedin, their record now sits at 8-2.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Dunedin hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .318. However, it's not like Largo struggles in that department as they've averaged .338. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Dunedin took their win against Largo in their previous matchup back in February of 2024 by a conclusive 10-0. The rematch might be a little tougher for Dunedin since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
