Recap: Weeki Wachee Hornets vs. Nature Coast Tech Sharks

The Weeki Wachee Hornets lost against the Nature Coast Tech Sharks back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Weeki Wachee took a 56-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of Nature Coast Tech. Weeki Wachee has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Weeki Wachee lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jean Garcia. Despite the final result, he scored 19 points along with nine rebounds. Garcia has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. Isaac Priester was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.

Weeki Wachee's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 5-11. As for Nature Coast Tech, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-8.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Weeki Wachee will take on Fivay at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Fivay focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 12 on Tuesday. As for Nature Coast Tech, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Springstead at 7:30 p.m. Springstead knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four matches -- so hopefully Nature Coast Tech likes a good challenge.
