Baseball Recap: Picayune Makes It 13 in a Row at Home

Picayune won against Pascagoula last Saturday with six runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Tuesday. Picayune was the clear victor by a 6-0 margin over the West Harrison Hurricanes. Considering the Maroon Tide have won seven matches by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Kendall Blevins tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over 5.2 innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Cooper Moreaux, who went 3-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Parker Helton, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Picayune kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive contests.

Picayune's victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for West Harrison, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-9.

Picayune will have a chance to go back-to-back against West Harrison: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
