Basketball Recap: Unity Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Unity Christian Academy played a tough match on Thursday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They had to suffer through a 60-15 loss at the hands of the Pamlico Christian Academy Mariners. The defeat continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Mariners: they've now lost seven in a row.

Despite the loss, Unity Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kayti Pichardo posted nine points.

Even though they lost, Unity Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Pamlico Christian Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Dannielle Palagyi, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Lexie Koontz, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.

Unity Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Pamlico Christian Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season.

Unity Christian Academy will take on Mount Calvary Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Pamlico Christian Academy, they will face off against Liberty Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
