Volleyball Game Preview: Scotts Valley Falcons vs. Santa Cruz Cardinals + How To Watch

The Scotts Valley Falcons are taking a road trip to square off against the Santa Cruz Cardinals at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Scotts Valley is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Soquel just ended the team's four-match winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Knights by a score of 3-2. Falcons fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Knights since Tuesday.

Scotts Valley took Soquel into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking two-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-21, 21-25, 25-22, 16-14.

Meanwhile, Santa Cruz waltzed into their match on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Everything went their way against the Pirates as they made off with a 3-0 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Cardinals have posted against the Pirates since October 25, 2022.

While Santa Cruz might've won, it sure wasn't easy: Harbor scored at least 21 points in every set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 25-21, 25-23.

Santa Cruz now has a winning record of 6-5. As for Scotts Valley, their loss was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 5-1 and their overall record down to 11-4.

Scotts Valley came out on top in a nail-biter against Santa Cruz in their previous meeting back in September, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Falcons since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
