The Cameron Dragons will face off against the Trinity Christian Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
On Thursday, Cameron didn't have quite enough to beat Madonna and fell 4-3. The Dragons haven't had much luck with the Blue Dons recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Lexi Bogard spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on four hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, Aubrey Thomas was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one run. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Pekula, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Trinity Christian took care of business in their home opener (and then some) on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Valley a 12-0 shutout. The win continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Lumberjacks: they've now won four in a row.
Paige Hopkins made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Josalyn Phillips, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Isabella Kelley was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Cameron now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Trinity Christian, their victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 1-0.
Cameron skirted past Trinity Christian 6-5 in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Does Cameron have another victory up their sleeve, or will Trinity Christian turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
