Baseball Recap: Edgewater Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Orangewood Christian, Edgewater was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They came out on top against Trinity Christian Academy by a score of 5-0.

Tanner Johnson looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has become a key player for Edgewater: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most three hits, but 7-8 otherwise.

At the plate, Edgewater let Odanyx Ofarril and Coron Victor run wild. Ofarril scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances, while Victor scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances. Ofarril is becoming a predictor of Edgewater's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 6-8 when he doesn't). Justin Hopper was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-1.

Edgewater now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Trinity Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-12.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Edgewater will head out to take on Foundation Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Edgewater 3.9, Foundation Academy 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Trinity Christian Academy, they will head out on the road to square off against Orlando Christian Prep at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Trinity Christian Academy's pitchers better be ready for this one: Orlando Christian Prep has averaged an impressive 9.4 runs per game this season.
