Football Recap: Trenton Maiden Key Part of Team Effort in Tigers Win

Clay County won the last time they faced Rowan County and things went their way on Friday too. The Tigers came out on top against the Vikings by a score of 28-21. The Tigers' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Clay County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Trenton Maiden, who rushed for 90 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Aiden Wagers was another key rusher, rushing for 52 yards and one score.

Despite the loss, Rowan County still got an impressive performance from Matthew Hamilton, who threw for 219 yards and a pair of TDs, and also punched in one rushing score.

Clay County's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Rowan County, their defeat was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-4.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Clay County will square off against Rockcastle County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Rockets' defense has only allowed 11.8 points per game this season, so the Tigers' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Rowan County, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Blazer at 7:30 p.m. on October 3.
