Softball Recap: Avon Lake Takes a Loss

Avon Lake came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 13-3 to the Midview Middies. The Shoremen have struggled against the Middies recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.

Briana Webster was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Olivia Miller, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Avon Lake's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Midview, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-5 record this season.

Avon Lake and Midview could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Shoremen will square off against North Ridgeville at 4:45 p.m. on the 28th with a big rank disadvantage (376 vs. 45). Meanwhile, Midview (ranked 240th) will meet Berea-Midpark (ranked 59th) at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday.
