Softball Recap: Webster County Extends Winning Streak to Five

Webster County entered their tilt with Hopkins County Central on Saturday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over the Storm. Considering the Trojans have won nine matches by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Layla Scott made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted over her last four contests. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Webster County got a big performance out of Chloe Papineau, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Another player making a difference was Raynei Roy, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Webster County pushed their record up to 13-14 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Hopkins County Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-22-1 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Webster County will welcome Trigg County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Hopkins County Central, they will challenge University Heights at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
