Ramani Adams put in work no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Adams was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. She is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played dating back to last season.
In other batting news, Abby Broz made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Emily Cleland was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, Waterloo unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of Newton Falls by a score of 5-4 on Monday. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it four in a row.
