Baseball Game Preview: Blair Bears vs. Gretna Dragons

The Blair Bears will head out to take on the Gretna Dragons at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Blair and Standing Bear faced off in a Battle of the Bears on Monday. The Bears came out on top against the Grizzlies by a score of 9-5. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Bears as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Nathan Murray was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Brevin Leggott, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

Meanwhile, Gretna narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Elkhorn 3-2. The win continues a trend for the Dragons in their matchups with the Antlers: they've now won seven in a row.

Layton Parrack looked comfortable as he pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has become a key player for Gretna: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 4-8 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Gretna saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Joe Sullivan, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI.

Blair's record is now 5-13. As for Gretna, their record now sits at 6-9.

Blair suffered a grim 10-1 defeat to Gretna in their previous matchup back in April of 2021. Can the Bears avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
