Basketball Game Preview: Sandpoint Bulldogs vs. Lewiston Bengals

Sandpoint hasn't had much luck against Lewiston recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Sandpoint Bulldogs will take on the Lewiston Bengals. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Sandpoint comes in on four and Lewiston on five.

Sandpoint will head into Friday's contest hoping to keep the good times rolling: they proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by 20) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 51-49 win over Lakeland. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bulldogs have posted since February 19, 2024.

Meanwhile, Lewiston slipped by Lakeland 48-47 on Tuesday. Given the Bengals' advantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked eighth, while the Hawks are ranked 58th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lewiston pushed their record up to 13-1 with the win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.8 points per game. As for Sandpoint, their victory bumped their record up to 5-7.

Sandpoint suffered a grim 72-51 defeat to Lewiston when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Can Sandpoint avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
