Basketball Recap: Lanesville Comes Up Short

Lanesville lost against Rock Creek Academy back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Lanesville Eagles took a 75-60 bruising from the Rock Creek Academy Lions.

Despite the defeat, Lanesville saw an underclassman step up: freshman Nolin Pearce went 6 for 13 to rack up 20 points and five boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Pearce has scored all season. Nolyn Hall was another key player, going 5 of 9 en route to 11 points and five rebounds.

Rock Creek Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Carsen Smith led the charge by dropping a double-double with 16 points and 11 boards. The dominant performance gave Smith a new career-high in rebounds. Another player making a difference was Gavon Taylor, who posted 13 points along with eight boards and seven assists.

Lanesville dropped their record down to 3-11 with the loss, which was their seventh straight on the road. As for Rock Creek Academy, their record now sits at 10-6.

Lanesville didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 97-55 victory against Shawe Memorial on the 6th. Rock Creek Academy has also already played their next contest (against Crothersville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
