Recap: Mercer Island Islanders vs. Liberty Patriots
With a playoff game on the line, the Mercer Island Islanders rose to the challenge on Monday. They managed a 62-56 win over the Patriots. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Mercer Island found their leader in underclassman Anna Mock, who scored 26 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Mock has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Caitlin Monahan, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds.
Mercer Island pushed their record up to 14-7 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.3 points per game. As for Liberty, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-9.
Mercer Island will head out on the road to take on Lake Washington at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Lake Washington will roll in looking for their 14th straight win, something Mercer Island surely won't give up without a fight. Liberty does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
