Baseball Recap: Poly's Loss Ends Nine-Game Winning Streak on the Road

Poly dropped their record down to 18-7 on Monday, which also ended the team's nine-game streak of wins on the road. They fell just short of the Verdugo Hills Dons by a score of 3-2. The Parrots were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Dons earlier this season, when they won 10-0.

As for Verdugo Hills, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-14. That's two games straight that they have won by just one run.

For Verdugo Hills' part, D'Angelo Duran spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on four hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Anthony Velasquez, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one double. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Cutlor Gouger-Fannon, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Poly wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 2-0 loss against North Hollywood on the 7th. As for Verdugo Hills, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 4-1 defeat against Sylmar on the 7th.
