Basketball Game Preview: St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders vs. Dwyer Panthers

The St. Thomas Aquinas Raiders will take on the Dwyer Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. St. Thomas Aquinas will be looking to extend their current nine-game winning streak.

St. Thomas Aquinas is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They walked away with a 72-59 win over Coral Springs. Given the Raiders' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked third, while the Colts are ranked 67th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

St. Thomas Aquinas got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kellson (KJ) Sandi out in front who went 7 of 13 from beyond the arc to rack up 25 points. That's the most points Sandi has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Clarence Westbrook Jr., who went 8 for 11 en route to 22 points.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Dwyer faced off against Royal Palm Beach on Wednesday. Dwyer fell just short of Royal Palm Beach by a score of 52-50.

Dwyer's defeat dropped their record down to 15-10. As for St. Thomas Aquinas, their win bumped their record up to 25-2.

Everything came up roses for St. Thomas Aquinas against Dwyer when the teams last played back in February of 2024, as the squad secured a 57-27 victory. Will St. Thomas Aquinas repeat their success, or does Dwyer have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
