It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Draughn had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They never let the Leadership Academy Falcons get on the board and left with a 12-0 victory. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won ten matches by six runs or more so far this season.
Avie Helton was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Draughn got a massive performance out of Braylen Clontz, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Maria Medrano, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base.
Draughn kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in five consecutive contests.
Draughn's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-9. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Leadership Academy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-9.
