Baseball Recap: Columbia Picks Up Fourth Consecutive Win

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Columbia had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They put the hurt on the Mosley Dolphins with a sharp 10-0 victory. The win was familiar territory for the Tigers, who have now won four contests in a row.

Bynton Edge made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over five innings pitched. Edge was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February.

Edge wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Tison McCray, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave McCray a new career-high. Another was Trayce McKenzie, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run.

Columbia always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .577. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mosley only posted an OBP of .222.

Columbia's record is now 17-10. As for Mosley, they dropped their record down to 16-13 with the loss, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Looking ahead, Columbia will challenge Niceville at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Tigers' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Mosley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
