Preview: Youngker Roughriders vs. Independence Patriots
The Youngker Roughriders will head out on the road to face off against the Independence Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Youngker will be strutting in after a win while Independence will be coming in after a loss.
Last Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Youngker beat Kofa 54-48.
It was another big night for Xavier Hargrove, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. Those 20 points set a new season-high mark for him. Isaac Ginger was another key contributor, scoring six points.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 72-31, which was the final score in Independence's tilt against Cactus Shadows on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, Independence can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 252nd, while Cactus Shadows is ranked 25th).
The victory got Youngker back to even at 4-4. As for Independence, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-9.
Everything went Youngker's way against Independence in their previous meeting back in February as Youngker made off with a 65-44 win. Will Youngker repeat their success, or does Independence have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
