Baseball Game Preview: New Diana Eagles vs. De Kalb Bears

For the second straight game, New Diana will face off against De Kalb. The Eagles will take on the Bears at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (New Diana 3.7, De Kalb 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.

New Diana is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They won by a run and slipped past De Kalb 5-4.

Remi Rountree spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on five hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Mason Sherman was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Justice Hankins was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.

New Diana has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-7-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. As for De Kalb, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-11.
