Preview: Encina Prep Bulldogs vs. Foresthill Wildfires
Encina Prep is 2-7 against Foresthill since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Encina Prep Bulldogs will head out on the road to square off against the Foresthill Wildfires at 7:30 p.m. Encina Prep has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 992 points over their last 14 contests.
Encina Prep pushed their score all the way to 58 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. The matchup between Encina Prep and Futures wasn't particularly close, with Encina Prep falling 76-58. Encina Prep found out winning isn't easy when you're outrebounded 18 to 5 on offense.
Encina Prep's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Sergio De La Cruz, who scored 20 points along with three steals, and Phillip Worsham who scored 14 points along with six assists and five steals. De La Cruz is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last four games he's played. Brelin Johnson was another key contributor, scoring two points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Foresthill posted their biggest victory since November 28, 2023 on Saturday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 65-29 victory over Sierra Academy of Expeditionary Learning. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 36-15.
Encina Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 11-5. As for Foresthill, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a massive bump to their 9-12 record this season.
Encina Prep beat Foresthill 75-67 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Encina Prep since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
