Basketball Game Preview: Laurel Spartans vs. South Side Rams

The Laurel Spartans are taking a road trip to square off against the South Side Rams at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. South Side took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on Laurel, who comes in off a win.

Laurel got their first taste of in-conference action this week and they started things off strong. They came out on top against Rochester by a score of 46-37 on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Spartans.

Meanwhile, South Side suffered their biggest defeat since January 3, 2024 on Friday. They were dealt a 63-23 loss at the hands of Neshannock. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 392nd, while the Lancers are ranked 31st).

South Side's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-4. As for Laurel, their victory ended a 13-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 5-5.

Laurel was dealt a bruising 63-31 loss at the hands of South Side in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Can Laurel avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
