Baseball Recap: Rampart Triumphs

Rampart and Vista Ridge pushed the score to 15-5 the last time they played Vista Ridge, but on Friday defenses reigned supreme. The Rams had just enough and edged out the Wolves 2-0. This was a revenge game for the Rams: when they faced off against the Wolves on Thursday, they had to take a 15-5 loss.

Vince Carpio made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double.

Rampart now has a winning record of 11-10. As for Vista Ridge, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 6-16.

Looking ahead, Rampart will venture away from home to face off against Canon City at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Rams will need to watch out since the Tigers have now posted at least ten runs in their last three matchups. As for Vista Ridge, they will host Doherty at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Wolves' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Spartans have averaged an impressive 7.8 runs per game this season.
