Preview: Harrison County Thorobreds vs. Holmes Bulldogs
Harrison County is 2-8 against Holmes since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Harrison County Thorobreds will look to defend their home field against the Holmes Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. Neither of those teams managed to put together many points in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.
Last Friday, Harrison County took a serious blow against Covington Catholic, falling 56-6. Harrison County was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-0.
The losing side was boosted by Kaydon Custard, who threw for 222 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Holmes, who are still winless after their eighth contest. They were beaten by Grant County 35-8 two weeks ago.
This is the second loss in a row for Harrison County and nudges their season record down to 4-4. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 9.5 points per game. As for Holmes, their defeat was their fifth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-8.
Harrison County was dealt a bruising 48-15 loss at the hands of Holmes in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. Can Harrison County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
