Volleyball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Sofie Sanders and Emmy Poll Lead Hudsonville to Victory

Jenison typically has all the answers at home, but on Saturday Hudsonville proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Wildcats by a score of 2-0. The Eagles were shut out 3-0 the last time they took on the Wildcats, so the Eagles were just returning the favor.

The 2-0 score doesn't really reflect how close the match was: every set was decided by three points or less. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-22.

Leading Hudsonville to victory were Emmy Poll and Sofie Sanders. Poll had 13 digs and two aces, while Sanders had 23 assists and seven digs. That's the most assists Sanders has posted over her last six contests.

Despite the loss, Jenison saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Braelyn Barrenger had six digs and five assists.

The win made it two in a row for Hudsonville and bumps their season record up to 19-6-1. As for Jenison, their defeat ended a six-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 25-3-1.

Hudsonville has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 victory against Lowell on the 4th. As for Jenison, they will square off against Mona Shores at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
