Basketball Recap: Williston's Higher State Rank on Full Display on Saturday

On Saturday, the Williston Red Devils beat the Florida State University High School Seminoles 64-56. Given the Red Devils' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 18th, while the Seminoles are ranked 111th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Williston found their leader in freshman Kierce Solomon, who made all 7 shots she took for 20 points along with six steals and five boards. Those six steals gave Solomon a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Delecia Dallas, who went 5 of 6 on her way to 12 points.

Williston's victory bumped their record up to 7-1. As for Florida State University High School, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-5.

Williston will take on Eastside in a holiday battle at at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Florida State University High School, they will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Nease at 6:30 p.m. on January 2, 2025.
