The Aliso Niguel Wolverines will challenge the Capistrano Valley Cougars at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Aliso Niguel 2.3, Capistrano Valley 3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Capistrano Valley will be up against a hot Aliso Niguel squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Wolverines came out on top against Ocean View by a score of 9-4 last Saturday. With that victory, the Wolverines brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.

Cooper Flemming was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over five innings pitched. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. Those four runs gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Jarett Sabol, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Carson Etnire was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
Aliso Niguel was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .348 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Capistrano Valley, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They walked away with a 7-3 win over Lincoln on Saturday.
Spencer Korzep looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, JT Flores was excellent, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3. Capistrano Valley is undefeated when Flores posts two or more runs, but 6-8-1 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Sammy Rucker, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Capistrano Valley now has a winning record of 9-8-1. As for Aliso Niguel, their victory bumped their record up to 14-5.
Aliso Niguel beat Capistrano Valley 6-2 when the teams last played back in March of 2023. Will the Wolverines repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
