Basketball Recap: Savannah Lay's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Jellico over Wartburg Central

Jellico lost against Wartburg Central back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Jellico Blue Devils took a 57-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Wartburg Central Bulldogs.

Jellico's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Savannah Lay, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds. Another player making a difference was Macy Mccullah, who posted 12 points and five boards.

Jellico's loss was their tenth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 2-21. As for Wartburg Central, their victory ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-15.

Looking ahead, Jellico will face off against Sunbright at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Wartburg Central, they will welcome Eagleton College & Career Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Wartburg Central is facing Eagleton College & Career Academy at the right time seeing as Eagleton College & Career Academy is stuck on a 14-game losing streak.
