It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Maine West ultimately got the result they hoped for on Saturday. They came out on top against the Schaumburg Saxons by a score of 6-2. The Warriors' victory was nothing new given the team hasn't lost yet this season.

KAITLYN MARSH spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, ABIGAYLE GARCIA was excellent, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was ZOE CARDONA, who earned two runs and three stolen bases.

Maine West pushed their record up to 5-0 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Schaumburg, the defeat snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 3-3 record.

Maine West has already played their next match, a 6-5 win against Vernon Hills on the 15th. As for Schaumburg, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 2-1 loss against Prospect on the 14th.
