League recap: Riley breaks off league-leading run for Priest River

3A Intermountain recap Sept. 26, 2012

Priest River's Cameron Riley rumbled for the longest rushing play in 3A Intermountain this season in his game against Jenkins last week. Riley scampered for 58 yards on the play and finished with 166 on the day as his team lost to the Cougars.

Kellogg led the league in scoring this week after putting up 32 points on Kellogg.

Priest River's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Riley threw for 257 and two touchdowns and Dallas Hopkins had 112 yards receiving. RC Akre helped Priest River's passing attack out by catching 10 balls for 92 yards.

Priest River's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Spartans feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Riley has thrown for 936 yards and nine touchdowns this season, while Akre has 24 catches for 290 yards. Riley also leads the league in rushing with 457 yards.

A big matchup in 3A Intermountain this week will be when the Wildcats take on Timberlake. As it stands, Kellogg is in third, while the Tigers are in first.
