Baseball Recap: Hooper Academy Comes Up Short

Hooper Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against the Macon-East Montgomery Academy Knights, falling 17-10. Even if the Colts couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.

Sam Moss was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring four runs and stealing Three bases. while going 3-for-4. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in hits. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaleb Jackson, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Hooper Academy's loss dropped their record down to 2-8. As for Macon-East Montgomery Academy, the win got them back to even at 4-4.

Hooper Academy and Macon-East Montgomery Academy could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Alabama Rankings. Hooper Academy (ranked 314th) will meet Edgewood Academy (ranked 122nd) at 5:30 p.m. on March 18th. Hooper Academy has given up an average of 12.7 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week. Meanwhile, Macon-East Montgomery Academy will face off against Lakeside School at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday down 149 places (164 vs. 15).
