Basketball Game Preview: South Platte Blue Knights vs. Perkins County Plainsmen

South Platte hasn't had much luck against Perkins County recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The South Platte Blue Knights are taking a road trip to square off against the Perkins County Plainsmen at 3:30 p.m. After the two teams made easy work of their previous opponents, one won't be so lucky on Tuesday.

Last Friday, South Platte got the win against Wauneta-Palisade by a conclusive 71-47. The Blue Knights pushed the score to 53-32 by the end of the third, a deficit the Broncos had little chance of recovering from.

Quinten Koenen continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, almost dropping a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in assists (seven). Nathan Jacobs was another key player, dropping a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.

South Platte was working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Perkins County entered their tilt with Dundy County-Stratton last Saturday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Everything went their way against the Tigers as they made off with a 66-45 win. The score was close at the half, but the Plainsmen pulled away in the second half with 41 points.

Perkins County's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.8 points per game. As for South Platte, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.

South Platte was dealt a bruising 68-33 loss at the hands of Perkins County when the teams last played back in December of 2022. Can South Platte avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
