Recap: St. Charles East Fighting Saints vs. West Aurora Blackhawks
The St. Charles East Fighting Saints came tearing into Wednesday's matchup with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.9 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against West Aurora by a score of 43-36. Despite the win, that was the fewest points St. Charles East has scored all season.
St. Charles East was led to victory by Corinne Reed and Alexis Maridis. Reed scored ten points along with three blocks, while Maridis scored nine points along with six rebounds and four steals. Those three blocks set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Sydney Axelsen, who scored six points along with six rebounds.
St. Charles East pushed their record up to 9-1 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for West Aurora, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.
St. Charles East will be home for the holidays to greet St. Charles North at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Illinois (St. Charles North is ranked 14th, while St. Charles East is ranked 18th). West Aurora won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Plainfield East at 6:30 p.m. on December 14th. Plainfield East has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 178 points over their last three matches.
