Softball Preview: North Lincoln Knights vs. Foard Tigers
For the second straight game, North Lincoln will face off against Foard. The Knights will head out on the road to take on the Tigers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. North Lincoln's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Foard's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
The home team had come away the winner the last five times North Lincoln and Foard had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Knights took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers on Tuesday.
For Foard's part, Karsyn Sigmon was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. Sigmon has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Foard let Livi Queen and Mattie Leonhardt run wild. Queen scored two runs while going 4-for-4, while Leonhardt scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Foard kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in four consecutive matches.
Foard's record is now 8-5. As for North Lincoln, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-4.
