Volleyball Recap: Austin Victorious

Austin saw some tournament action on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-1 victory over the Plano East Panthers.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Austin who won the one that mattered. The final score came out to 25-23, 22-25, 25-20.

Riley Malloy paced Austin's offense, picking up 16 kills. Malloy got some help from Maggie McCarroll and her 22 assists.

Austin's win bumped their record up to 17-1. As for Plano East, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 10-4.

Looking ahead, Austin will square off against Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial at 11:15 a.m. on Thursday. As for Plano East, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 victory against Princeton on the 26th.
