Basketball Game Preview: Henderson County Colonels vs. Hopkins County Central Storm

Henderson County has gone a perfect 9-0 against Hopkins County Central recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Henderson County Colonels will square off against the Hopkins County Central Storm at 6:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Hopkins County Central will be up against a hot Henderson County team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Henderson County took their contest on Monday with ease, bagging a 77-40 victory over Lyon County. Given the Colonels' advantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky basketball rankings (they are ranked tenth, while the Lyons are ranked 54th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Allyson Rideout was her usual excellent self, going 8-for-17 en route to 17 points in addition to eight rebounds and six assists. Those six assists gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Anna Kemp, who shot 71% from the field on her way to 12 points along with five boards and four steals.

They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Henderson County was working as a unit and finished the game with 24 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Hopkins County Central came tearing into Monday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.4 points), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Tigers 79-54.

Henderson County's win bumped their record up to 25-5. As for Hopkins County Central, their victory bumped their record up to 19-13.

Everything went Henderson County's way against Hopkins County Central in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, as Henderson County made off with a 55-33 win.
