Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Oakwood, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They walked away with an 8-3 victory over North Vermillion on Tuesday.
Irene Rangel made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over seven innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits (and only one walk). She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gracie Hanner, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Bella Bradford, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Oakwood is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-8-1 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Chrisman, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.
