Basketball Game Preview: Amherst Broncos vs. Loomis Wolves

The Amherst Broncos will venture away from home to challenge the Loomis Wolves at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Amherst is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Broken Bow on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Amherst was beaten by Broken Bow 59-30. The loss continues a trend for the Broncos in their matchups with the Indians: they've now lost nine in a row.

Despite the defeat, Amherst had strong showings from Libby Mitchell, who posted nine points, and Addy Simmons, who earned nine points. Another player making a difference was AnnDee Jaixen, who put up five points.

Meanwhile, Loomis was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Tuesday as they fell 44-39 to Kenesaw.

Loomis now has a losing record at 1-2. As for Amherst, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 2-1.

Everything came up roses for Amherst against Loomis in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, as the team secured a 59-29 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Amherst since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
