Football Recap: San Juan Hills Keeps Mira Costa's Under Pressure + How To Watch

San Juan Hills won the last time they faced Mira Costa and things went their way on Friday too. The Stallions walked away with a 38-28 win over the Mustangs.

Timmy Herr continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, throwing for 260 yards and three TDs while completing 87.5% of his passes, and also rushing for 82 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Those 82 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Elijah Ayala helped out on the ground, rushing for 105 yards.

San Juan Hills didn't let much get past them through the air: they limited Mira Costa to a completion percentage of just 46.9%. That dominant aerial defense primarily came from five players: Jonah Sanchez, Landon Grant, Tyler Adams, Noah Howell, and Dean Kolasinski, who each logged one passes deflected. Given Herr's standout performance, it's clear Mira Costa's secondary just wasn't on the same level.

San Juan Hills' defense didn't let Liam Meeker, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for five sacks. Roman Paseka refused to say out of the backfield, picking up 1.5 sacks all by himself. Another thorn in Mira Costa's side was Sanchez, who picked up 0.5 sacks, forced one fumble, and made ten total tackles (2.0 for loss).

Meeker and AJ McBean certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Meeker rushed for 92 yards and one score on only five carries, while McBean rushed for 82 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

San Juan Hills' record now sits at 4-1. As for Mira Costa, their defeat was their first of the season and makes their record 3-1.

San Juan Hills will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Corona del Mar at 7:00 p.m. on the 3rd. The Sea Kings' defense has only allowed 13.5 points per game this season, so the Stallions' offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Mira Costa, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 34-23 victory against Villa Park on the 26th.
