Softball Recap: Sun Valley Takes a Loss

Sun Valley extended their losing streak to four on Monday, dropping their season record down to 3-12 in the process. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-2 heartbreaker at the hands of the Oxford Hornets. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

As for Oxford, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-13. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games.

For Oxford's part, Ericka Ortega spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Grace Allen, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
