Mountain Ridge has won nine straight games at home, while Herriman has won nine straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Thursday. The Sentinels will welcome the Mustangs at 3:30 p.m. Mountain Ridge is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.2 runs per game this season.
Mountain Ridge is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Utah's top teams: Riverton, who was ranked first at the time (Mountain Ridge was ranked fifth). The Sentinels blew past the Silverwolves 9-2 on Tuesday. Considering the Sentinels have won ten games by more than six runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Sydney Lambert spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on two hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Mountain Ridge let Red Brooks and Hanna Lino run wild. Brooks got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double, while Lino went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double. Those two hits gave Lino a new career-high. Tatyana Toala was another key player, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two RBI and one run.
Meanwhile, Herriman earned a 6-3 win over Copper Hills on Wednesday. The victory continues a trend for the Mustangs in their matchups with the Grizzlies: they've now won five in a row.
Herriman also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Ashlyn Beratto gave up three earned runs on six hits.
At the plate, Kinlee McDermaid was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run and three runs. Another player making a difference was McKenzie Quintero, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.
Herriman kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in seven consecutive contests.
Mountain Ridge's win bumped their record up to 15-1. As for Herriman, their victory bumped their record up to 14-8.
Mountain Ridge's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's matchup. The Sentinels have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.4 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Herriman, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Mountain Ridge continue to outrun the ball?
Mountain Ridge was able to grind out a solid win over Herriman in their previous matchup back in March, winning 6-1. Do the Sentinels have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mustangs turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
