Softball Game Preview: Science Leadership Academy vs. Central Lancers

Science Leadership Academy is 0-3 against Central since April of 2016 but things could change on Wednesday. Science Leadership Academy will take on Central at 3:15 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

On Monday, Science Leadership Academy made easy work of Masterman and carried off a 16-3 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for Science Leadership Academy.

Marisa Phan was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and five RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Another player making a difference was Katherine Diemer, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with four stolen bases and four runs.

Science Leadership Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Central). They blew past MAST Charter II 24-2 two weeks ago. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.

Central pushed their record up to 5-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.1 runs over those games. As for Science Leadership Academy, they now have a winning record of 4-3.

Science Leadership Academy might still be hurting after the 9-3 loss they got from Central in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Science Leadership Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
