League recap: Rocklin lifted by Bennett's performance at the plate

Sierra Foothill league recap: 5/14/12

Christian Bennett was on fire this week, as he led Sierra Foothill with a .571 average with seven RBIs. Meanwhile, Rocklin put together a 3-0 week.

The league's top pitcher this week was Stephen Nogosek. He won zero games and struck out nine batters.

the Thunder scored 38 runs this week to lead the league, but Granite Bay is tops in runs scored this year, with 186.

Woodcreek, the league leader in stolen bases this season with 76, added to its lead in that category with 13 more steals over the past week. Shaun Mize's 26 steals make him the biggest threat on the basepaths for the Timberwolves, which is running wild under the direction of manager Eric Valencia.

Nevada Union's Dustin Zeisler led the league with nine hits this week. His 33 hits for the year are fifth in the league, and he boasts a .423 batting average.



Rocklin's Tanner Mcvey threw eight shutout innings in a 16-8 win over Nevada Union on Wednesday. He struck out five, allowing five hits.

Brett Bautista was an RBI machine on Wednesday, as he knocked in four runs during Roseville's 5-3 win over Granite Bay
