Basketball Recap: John Paul II Comes Up Short

John Paul II played a tough contest on Tuesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt an 86-49 defeat at the hands of the Incarnate Word Academy Angels. The Guardians were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 52-23.

When it comes to explaining why John Paul II lost, don't look at Dj Miller. Despite the final result, he went 5 of 11 en route to 21 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. That was a full 42.9% of John Paul II's points, marking the eighth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryson Krug, who put up four points.

John Paul II has traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season. As for Incarnate Word Academy, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 15-12.

John Paul II will take on Geneva on Friday. As for Incarnate Word Academy, they will square off against Holy Cross at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Holy Cross will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Incarnate Word Academy surely won't give up without a fight.
