Baseball Recap: Geneseo Triumphs

Geneseo hadn't done well against Livonia recently (they were 0-8 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Blue Devils won by a run and slipped past the Bulldogs 4-3. This was payback for the Blue Devils, who suffered a 6-3 loss the last time these two teams met.

Geneseo let Oren Ray and Sam Least run wild. Ray went 2-for-3 with two runs and one triple, while Least went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Ray is becoming a predictor of Geneseo's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 6-2 (and 3-5 when he doesn't).

Geneseo is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Livonia, their defeat ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 13-3.

Looking ahead, Geneseo is taking a road trip to challenge Pavilion at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Livonia, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against Haverling at 5:00 p.m. The Bulldogs will need to watch out since the Rams have now posted at least ten runs in their last three games.
