Baseball Game Preview: First Flight Nighthawks vs. Fredericksburg Christian Eagles

The First Flight Nighthawks will face off against the Fredericksburg Christian Eagles at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

First Flight is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 29 runs last Wednesday, they were much more limited against D.H. Conley on Tuesday. They took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vikings.

First Flight saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Dillon Francis, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Aaron Stewart was another, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one double.

Meanwhile, Fredericksburg Christian fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Manteo on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Redskins by a score of 12-11.

Eli Pyle was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring three runs while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristan Johnson, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two RBI.

Fredericksburg Christian now has a losing record of 0-1-1. As for First Flight, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
