Basketball Recap: Whiteville Takes a Loss

Whiteville played a tough match on Wednesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by the Scotland Fighting Scots 71-41. While losing is never fun, the Wolfpack can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 536th, while the Fighting Scots are ranked 168th).

Whiteville's defeat was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Scotland, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-3.

Whiteville will host Pender at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Scotland, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Pinecrest at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Scotland has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
