Football Preview: Kaplan Pirates vs. North Webster Knights
The Kaplan Pirates will square off against the North Webster Knights at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Kaplan's favor as the team sits on five straight wins at home while North Webster has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.
Kaplan will head into Thursday's match on the come-up: they were handed a three-point loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against St. Martinville on Thursday. Kaplan breezed by St. Martinville to the tune of 32-0. The result was nothing new for the Pirates, who have now won seven games by 20 points or more so far this season.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 39 points the game before, North Webster was a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They fell just short of Bastrop by a score of 8-6.
Despite the defeat, North Webster got top-tier performance from Braedon Robertson, who rushed for 105 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries. Robertson got the majority of those rushing yards when he took off on a run that went for an incredible 84 yards.
North Webster didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off five passes before the game was over. Donte Owens led the group effort, picking up three of those interceptions all by himself. North Webster got some further help from Ashton Grigsby: he picked up two sacks and made nine total tackles.
North Webster's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Kaplan, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.
